NBA.com for Intel
Usable Products conducted focus groups and usability tests for the "My Highlights" feature of the NBA.com website in 2000, in association with Intel's Human Factors Group. "My Highlights" was a customized video-on-demand feature that enabled users to direct their favorite NBA plays.

 

nba.com splitscreenWe utilized both Youth and Adult age groups to test the "My Highlights" user interface. Respondents were asked to navigate the feature and compile their own video highlights reel.

Usability tests were video taped and transcribed. Findings and recommendations were made on the control layout, graphic design, and information architecture, with a focus on implementable solutions.

The project's objective was to assess user:

  • Understanding of 'My Highlights'
  • Response to the 'My Highlights' technology
  • Ability to navigate to and from 'My Highlights' and the rest of the site
  • Response to subscription pricing models
  • Selection of plays of in current and previous games' highlights
  • Selection and viewing of video highlights
